Why, "Live the life you love"?
The mantra "Live the life you love" has been my guiding light for years. But why is it so deeply etched in my soul?
At the age of 16, I miraculously survived a near-fatal car accident. After a long journey of hospitalisation I eventually, was able to walk again, and most importantly, to dance! It was a life-changing moment that reshaped my perspective on life entirely. In the beginning I became (over)ambitious in making the best out of my life. Because I know the feeling of not being able to do anything at all... And I felt super grateful to be alive! But this started a cycle of: study, party and travel to the fullest.
The passing of my dearest mother was my wake-up call
My whole word shifted when, at the age of 24, my dearest mother passed away. She left this world with shining eyes in my arms, choosing euthanasia after a painful battle with cancer. It was the second moment in life that offered a whole new dimension of insight, a spiritual awakening. Suddenly, I felt a profound calling to make the world a better place. My goal to become a successful marketer seemed to have no point at all. I now wanted to do something good for the world, but I had no idea how to start...
From unhealthy coping to Yoga Junkie
At the time, I was pursuing a Master's degree in Business, but it no longer felt right. I found myself out of balance, both physically and emotionally. To cope with my unprocessed grief and the overwhelming sense of loneliness, I turned to unhealthy habits. I then developed intense back pain, and yoga helped me to release this. I was hooked!
The journey of transformation: India
After graduating in 2015, I embarked on a transformative journey in India. It was there that I experienced my first yoga teacher training, which opened up a new, conscious world for me. Step by step, I began to find balance in my life and discovered the wholeness within me. While also embarking on the grieving process of the loss of my mother. Which I now feel so closely near me, in spirit.
Travelling the world to find my true calling
Many years, travels, trainings, initiations, dances, ceremonies and insights later, I finally understood my true calling: to follow my heart. It has become the compass guiding me toward happiness and gratitude into my life.
Co-Creating Casa Tarsan Vegan Eco Lodge: Sharing what we love!
For the past decade, my heart has been my guiding force, drawing me away from the bustling city of Amsterdam to the serene mountains of Spain. Here, alongside my soul mate, we co-created a Vegan Eco Lodge. Sharing Reiki and Yin Yoga with our guests, amidst the embrace of nature, I discovered a profound connection to my inner self. In this tranquil setting, I found myself deeply aligned with my heart's desires.
Giving Birth to Freedom and moving to Costa Rica
The latest and most beautiful transformation in my life has brought us to Costa Rica, a land of abundant natural beauty that we now proudly call home. Welcoming our daughter, Saoirse (meaning freedom), who arrived on 08-08-2020 through the Lions Gate, has been a profound spiritual journey. She has become my greatest teacher, inspiring me to share the best version of myself and create an uplifting environment for her. Amidst the magic and challenges of conscious motherhood, I am continually awed and humbled, feeling immensely blessed and overflowing with love and gratitude.
